Meet the Trustees

Paroa Trust is governed by seven elected trustees who bring a range of skills, knowledge, and connections to Ngāti Pāhauwera and the land.

Ray Edwards

Chairperson

Ray is currently a Liaison Officer at Te Kura (formerly The Correspondence School). In his previous roles in education, he served as Assistant Principal at Flaxmere College and taught at Hato Paora College in Kimbolton.

Luis McDonnell, Trustee

Luis McDonnell

Trustee

Luis works in Strategic Development and Planning Management across the Gisborne and Hawke's Bay regions. His current governance and management roles include the Ngāti Pāhauwera Commercial Development Ltd, Digisee Security Technologies Ltd, and Te Aranga Farming Corporation, following a previous career at Phillips Electronics.

Marlene is a former Special Needs Teacher at Kimi Ora Community School in Flaxmere. She was inspired to join the Trust by her Uncle Wiremu Hodges and holds fond memories of listening to her Nanny Paea and Aunty Tweenie discussing Paroa Station.

Michelle brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to the governance team, contributing strongly to the ongoing care and strategic development of the station.

Bonny Hatami

Bonny works extensively in Māori development and holds governance positions across a number of predominantly Māori entities, spanning the farming, tourism, and environmental sectors.

Kathryn Gale

Kathryn Gale

Trustee

Kathryn is connected to Paroa through her Eriha whakapapa. She works at the Ngāti Pāhauwera Development Trust managing environmental projects and is deeply passionate about looking after the taiao, particularly our freshwater resources.

Robyn Culshaw

Robyn Culshaw

Trustee

Robyn connects to Paroa through her Culshaw and Te Kahu whakapapa. She has lived in Raupunga all her life and has served as the Administrator at Mohaka School for 21 years.
